A different Challenge

Sometimes, we need a challenge. A challenge so far from our normal activities that it places doubt in people's mind whether you can succeed.  This Month I had such a challenge. A challenge I sneakily got suckered into without knowing exactly that I'd agreed to do it.

I agreed to make a hundred cupcakes for a friends family wedding.  No problem.  A few weeks later, I was then told they no longer wanted cupcakes but a proper 3 tier wedding cake.  Why I didn't say, "nope sorry" is beyond me.  I've never made a wedding cake! Cake I can do, but wedding cake?!  Wedding cake doesn't leave room for error!!!

After a lot of cake testing, and practice stacking, and many hours of panic and crying buckets of tears,  I just had to get down to it.  Fondant covered buttermilk vanilla cake decorated with Calla Lily was the request.  Any other specifics and details were mine to choose.

It took the month to sculpt and wire all those flowers and make the cakes but here's the final product.   I did it!  I make a wedding cake!  A beautiful wedding cake.  A beautiful wedding cake that didn't fall apart!
